Amidst the current Stephen King explosion, Blumhouse Productions is moving forward on their adaptation of Firestarter. King's 1980 novel, about a young girl with pyrokinetic powers. It was previously turned into a 1984 movie starring Drew Barrymore. The story has also influenced numerous films and TV series, including Stranger Things. Now, according to Variety, the remake has found a director. German filmmaker Fatih Akin (Head-On, In the Fade) will helm the movie, working with a script by Scott Teems (Sundance Channel's Rectify).
